Matt Zimmerman Promoted to Director of A Club and Former Student-Athlete Engagement

FAYETTEVILLE - The Razorback Foundation announced today that Matt Zimmerman, longtime Razorback, has been promoted to Director of A Club and Former Student-Athlete Engagement.

“Matt was the obvious choice to fill this role. As a University of Arkansas graduate, former Men's Basketball coach and manager and current Men's Basketball radio analyst, the relationships he has formed with our current and former student-athletes across all sports is invaluable,” said Ryan White, Razorback Foundation executive director. “You would be hard-pressed to find anybody that is more passionate about the Razorbacks than Coach Z. We know he will continue to build relationships with former Hogs and be an outstanding conduit between them and the University.”

Zimmerman will be tasked with leading strategic engagement initiatives that support Razorback student-athletes beyond graduation, strengthen ties with the Foundation and promote community involvement.

Prior to his promotion, Zimmerman was a Director of Development and will continue to fundraise for the organization, in addition to his new duties. He will also maintain his hosting role on the Razorback Daily, the Arkansas Razorbacks daily podcast, co-hosted by Zimmerman and Quinn Grovey, as well as his role on the Learfield broadcast team for football and basketball.

“I love the Razorbacks, and this really is a dream come true,” said Zimmerman. “Supporting the Athletic Department in this manner comes with great responsibility and I don't take it lightly. I learned from the best, including the late Dean Weber and Kevin Trainor. I can't wait to expand our former student-athlete engagement and continue to serve the Razorbacks in a new and exciting way!”

Zimmerman is in his tenth season as the color analyst for Razorback basketball and his sixth year working with the Razorback Foundation. A 20-plus year coaching veteran and mainstay with the Razorbacks, Zimmerman spent eight years (2011-19) on the Razorback basketball staff as an assistant coach and director of operations. Zimmerman was a student manager for the men's basketball team and spent four years in the Army ROTC. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1990 and served five years active duty in the military. After his stint in the Army, Zimmerman began coaching high school basketball, including stints at Plainview-Rover High School and Dardanelle High School. He then started his collegiate coaching career at UAB before moving to Missouri and back to Arkansas. He is a native of St. Vincent, Ark. and graduated from Wonderview High School in Conway County.
